Parthenium integrifolium - Whole Plant Whole Plant

Flowers of Solanum carolinenses or horse nettle are most commonly white in color. However, light violet flowers are often seen. My personal observations - without support from online descriptions of the plant - suggest that flower colors shifts toward violet as the flower ages.

The violet flowers shown here are from photographs made on the the Tall Grass Prairie of Osage County Oklahoma. The white flowers were found in Searcy County Arkansas. Since I commonly see blooms of both colors in Arkansas, I do not attribute this variance in shade to their different locations.
